40mm and 30mm khadi (VSI crushed stone aggregate) for PCC, mass concrete, floor base concrete and hard core, delivered to sites across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Panvel.
About the material
40mm khadi is crushed stone aggregate with a nominal size of 40 mm – the largest khadi size we supply, along with 30mm. IS 383 lists 40 mm both as a single size and as a graded aggregate that also carries smaller pieces. It is screened aggregate for concrete; don't confuse it with 40mm kapchi, which is broken stone for soling.
✓ PCC and mass concrete where nothing restricts the flow
✓ Floor base concrete (lean concrete)
✓ Hard core under floors that take wheeled traffic
✓ Foundations and thick sections
Sizes: 40 mm (single-size or graded) and 30 mm
Single-size 40 (IS 383): 100% <63 mm · 85–100% <40 · 0–20% <20 · 0–5% <10
Graded 40 (IS 383): 100% <80 mm · 90–100% <40 · 30–70% <20 · 10–35% <10 · 0–5% <4.75
30 mm: trade size; no IS 383 nominal size
Nominal-mix ratio: about 1 : 2.5 sand to khadi with 40 mm (IS 456 example)
Other limits: fines ≤1%, flaky + elongated ≤40% (IS 383)
Sold by: VSI-crushed · brass or tonne · minimum 6 brass (or 25 tonnes)
These are the limits in the standards – what to ask for – not test results for a particular load.
Key properties
Bigger stone means less sand and cement per cubic metre – but only where the section is thick enough.
IS 456 allows 40 mm or larger aggregate where nothing restricts the concrete's flow.
IS 383 lists 40 mm both ways; graded 40 mm carries 30–70% finer than 20 mm.
IS 2571 uses coarse aggregate graded 40 mm and below for floor base concrete.
IS 2571 specifies a 100 mm compacted hard core of 40 mm stone where floors take wheeled traffic.
Maximum size should be no more than a quarter of the thinnest section, so 40 mm needs about 160 mm or more.
40mm khadi is screened aggregate for concrete; kapchi is broken stone for soling.
Which one?
Both are about 40 mm, but they do different jobs.
Screened coarse aggregate for concrete.
IS 383 single-size or graded 40 mm.
PCC, mass concrete, floor base concrete.
Broken stone for soling, filling and base layers.
Rolled and compacted, not mixed into concrete.

Quality checks on site
Quick checks anyone on site can do. Lab tests to IS 2386 are what the standards use.
In single-size 40 mm there should be no pieces over about 63 mm and few under 10 mm.
Flaky means thinner than about 0.6× the piece's size; elongated means longer than about 1.8×. A handful shouldn't be mostly flat slivers.
No soil, roots, coal bits, mica flakes or shells – IS 383 lists these as harmful.
Measure the truck body (length × width × height in feet ÷ 100 = brass) or ask for the weighbridge slip on tonne orders.

FAQs
What is the difference between 40mm khadi and 40mm kapchi?
40mm khadi is screened coarse aggregate for concrete, to the IS 383 40 mm grading. Kapchi is broken stone for soling, filling and base layers. We supply both.
Where is 40mm khadi used?
In PCC and mass concrete where nothing restricts the flow (IS 456), in floor base concrete, and as hard core under floors that take wheeled traffic (IS 2571).
Do you supply 30mm khadi?
Yes. IS 383 has no 30 mm size, so drawings usually call for 20 mm or graded 40 mm. Tell us what your specification says.
What is the 40mm khadi rate per brass?
We don't publish a fixed price for each material. Delivered rates are indicatively ₹3,000–₹6,000 per brass across our materials (October 2026), depending on delivery distance, quality and type of material. Call or WhatsApp for today's delivered rate for your site.
What is the minimum order?
6 brass (or 25 tonnes) per delivery. Call or WhatsApp with your quantity and site location and we confirm the delivered rate.
Do you deliver today, or at night?
We work 24/7 and same-day delivery is available across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Panvel. Mumbai deliveries follow the city's heavy-vehicle timing windows, so confirm your slot when you call. Every load comes with a GST invoice.
